Program Description
Baylor in Paris is a four-and-a-half-week academic program offering students the opportunity to earn six hours of college credit in the cultural center of France and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Baylor faculty teach all courses and lead all excursions to places of interest in Paris, Versailles, the Loire valley, and Normandy. Students live and share meals with French host families who reside within the city. Thus, aside from class instruction in the language, students experience day-to-day Parisian life as well as the extraordinarily rich culture that France has to offer. Classrooms and facilities for Baylor in Paris are centrally located in the newly remodeled Paris College of Art in the 10th arrondissement.

Trips and Excursions
In Paris, students will have the opportunity to visit major museums and points of interest such as Notre Dame, the Sainte-Chapelle, the Conciergerie, the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, and the Paris Opera. Outside of Paris, the group will visit the Palace of Versailles, travel to the city of Rouen in Normandy, and take an overnight trip to visit the châteaux in the Loire valley. At the end of the stay in Paris, the group will take a three-day trip to Normandy which will include visits to the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, the coastal city of Saint-Malo, the city of Caen, the town of Bayeux, and the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach.

Dr. Richard Durán, Professor of French, holds a Ph.D. in Romance Studies from Cornell University. As a graduate student, he spent a summer in Paris studying at l’Alliance Française and an academic year in Paris with the New York University in France program.  He has taught at Baylor since 1983 and will be directing the Baylor in Paris program for the ninth time.
Dr. Holly Collins, Associate Professor of French, holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has both studied in France as an undergraduate and lived in France while teaching English. Dr. Collins has also traveled to many other French-speaking countries and has taught at Baylor since 2011.
