i5 is the premiere summer study abroad opportunity not only for technology and engineering students interested in further developing their business acumen, but also for business and law students interested in the world of technology entrepreneurship!

Students work together for 9 weeks on student-led teams on real-world technology commercialization projects alongside students from China, France and Israel.

2013 projects include:

Alliance: Commercial laundry equipment manufacturer asked i5 to create an aggressive plan for entering the Asian market.

Bonham Strand: Hong Kong-based social enterprise asked i5 for help entering the US market.

Cbana: Gas Chromatography laboratory developed several miniaturization technologies and needed i5’s assistance commercializing their patents.

Genesi: Partnership with Freescale produced RCP chip packaging, a new miniature version of the ARM architecture. Genesi asked i5 for assistance commercializing this fascinating development.

Lots-of-Buttons: New web site found a several billion dollar global niche in the DIY market. They asked for i5’s help growing and expanding this business.

Marco: Grocery furnishing enterprise developed new line of doors for refrigerated units. Marco asked for i5 assistance with a quick-to-cash and risk-mitigated plan for commercialization.

NOVA: NOVA Biologicals is a water testing company that developed a water security device. NOVA asked i5 to commercialize this device, a difficult task given the company’s service orientation.

OSO: OSOSimple asked i5 to develop a product rollout plan for Asia markets.

The trip also includes seeing famous cultural sites including The Great Wall, Silk Market and Pearl Market, and Tianamen Square and Forbidden City.

“This is a wonderful experience for those who want to be global leaders. You will learn real business ethics and knowledge that you cannot achieve from school.” Sung Jae Lee, Int’l Business Mgmt, Petra University, i5 2012.
