What: The Baylor Sports Sponsorship & Sales (S3) program, in exclusive partnership with Loughborough University in London, offers Baylor S3 students exposure to cutting-edge sports business analytics. Join us as we visit with executives at Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City and travel to other Premier League teams around the U.K.. Learning combines classroom exercises with field visits and match attendance.
Why: Data analytics is taking over the business of sports. Teams analyze all aspects of player performance and each step of the customer journey to becoming passionate fans. Brands analyze customer attitudes, digital media behaviors and purchases as fans engage with sponsored teams and players. Careers in analytics are some of the highest paying and most satisfying in the business of sports.
Prerequisite: All sophomores admitted into the business school by the second summer term are eligible to apply. S3 majors receive priority in the acceptance decision. Underclassmen may be admitted if credit is determined to be available. The program previews the Baylor S3 4+1 Masters in Sport Business, Analytics & Technologies with Loughborough University-London.
When: To allow S3 majors to complete summer internships, students arrange individual flights to arrive in London by Sunday, July 29, 2018. Schedule highlights:
- Activities begin Monday, July 30, at 9:00am.
- Mondays-Thursdays: Field trips to Premiere League teams and sports agencies.
- Friday-Sundays: Friday morning class sessions followed by free Friday afternoons and weekends for individual excursions.
- Depart London on Friday (8-17) or Saturday (8-18) to arrive in time for Baylor classes (begin on Monday, 8-20).
Where: Lodging will be arranged as the itinerary is set. Students will room in pairs.
How much: The program fees ($3000 + $250 administrative fees) and tuition ($3711) for this three-week experience make this relatively affordable.
Application due: 3/15/18. Decision Date: 3/17/18.
Students arrange their own flights to London Heathrow. Expected cost if booked in the fall is $900-$1100 ($1350 in late spring). Ask family & friends for their miles! All fees due: May 1, 2018.
