Hong Kong Harbor

Program Overview

Complementary Therapies and Traditional Chinese Medicine: NUR 4320 & NUR 5V50 The 12-day trip will include a week with the students and faculty at the Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Nethersole School of Nursing. This 3 credit hour course will examine nursing within the Eastern philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine. Students will have the opportunity to visit several Chinese medicine hospitals, participate in workshops on acupuncture, moxibustion and Qigong and learn from the experts of the School of Chinese Medicine.

This program is open to School of Nursing students only. Please contact the Program Director, Kathryn Voreis, with any questions.

 

Program Costs

Total Program Fee - $3,600

Non-refundable deposit due January 27 - $1,200.00
2nd Payment Due February 24 - $1,200.00
Final Payment Due March 24 - $1,200.00

The cost of the trip is $3,600, plus tuition for the 3 credit hour nursing course. Cost includes: airfare, meals, accommodations at the University Guest House and transportation to designated locations. The trip offers 3-4 days of cultural immersion. Introduction to Hong Kong with an orientation bus tour of Victoria Peak, Aberdeen Fishing Village with Sampan Boat Ride, Repulse Bay Lookout and Stanley Market. Enjoy a full day excursion to the Big Buddha on Lantau Island, visit the Jade market, dine at the famous Peninsula Hotel and an evening cruise on Victoria Harbor.

Travel Needs

Passport: It is the student’s individual responsibility to obtain an appropriate passport. The student needs an active and current passport with at least six months remaining without expiration. You DO NOT need a VISA for Hong Kong.

Health Immunizations: The CDC recommends the following immunizations: Hepatitis A (Hepatitis B is optional); Flu vaccination; Tetanus (TDAP) booster; Measles booster and Typhoid immunization. It is recommended that you consult your personal physician or travel clinic to find out if your immunizations are up to date. You will also need to inquire if there are additional immunizations needed if you plan to travel in other countries.
