Sorrento is located on the north end of the Amalfi Coast, on the Mediterranean Sea. The natural beauty of the Sorrentine landscape with its mild climate, lively piazzas, vibrant cultural scene, lemon groves, and the allure of the nearby sights such as Pompeii, Capri, and the Amalfi Coast all conspire to make Sorrento a wonderful location for study abroad students.
Sorrento offers learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom, with its churches and cathedrals that exemplify a wide range of Italian architectural styles. SAI makes use of its easy access to Rome and Naples for excursions and guided field studies. All points in Italy are readily accessible to students via discount flights from Naples or Italy's extensive train network.
Students will find Sorrento a welcoming Italian community, with friendly local citizens eager to engage. There are many cultural activities in Sorrento, since it is a popular sea town that draws crowds from around the world. At the same time, it is an intimate community; your housing will be just a short walk from the school. The town is quaint and gorgeous, nestled on the bluff above a sparkling sea, with an active social life for students. In the summer, there is a lively beach life in Sorrento, found only steps from the school.
