Location:


The University of Leipzig was founded in 1409 which makes it one of the oldest universities in Europe. It has a student population of 16,700 and every tenth student is a foreigner.

Leipzig has a population of some 530,000 inhabitants and is a city of the state of Saxony. With its rich traditions and an optimistic future ahead of it, the town is a pleasant place to live. For 800 years Leipzig attracted many fairs and as a result it became a European trade center. The town became filled with visitors from near and far. Today, the Gewandhaus Orchestra conducted by Prof. Kurt Masur, the world-famous Thomaner Choir of the Thomas Church, the system of passage ways in the town center, museums, theaters and the Nicolai Church are all symbols of cultural interest.

Application Procedure:


Students are first required to be nominated to attend a MAUI-Utrecht program. Email robert_leis@baylor.edu to schedule an interview to be nominated for the program. More information regarding the application process will be given at the interview.

Costs:


Housing will cost around 160 EUROS per month. In addition, expect to spend around 20 EUROS a month on meals and 80 EUROS a month on transportation. Books will cost around 75 EUROS for the semester. Overall, budget about 250 EUROS for every month.

Each student is responsible for their own transportation, including airfare.

A passport and visa are required. You should apply for a visa AFTER you have been accepted to the university.
