Program Description:

Baylor in Oxford
Christ Church OXFORD 1

Date: July 6 - August 6, 2017

Where: Oxford, England, United Kingdom

BAYLOR in OXFORD is a summer study-abroad program that offers Baylor students the amazing opportunity to live and to study in Oxford, England--“the city of dreaming spires.”  Baylor students live at Christ Church,  the largest and most prestigious of Oxford University colleges. We take our meals in the magnificent Great Hall, have classes overlooking Tom Quad, and enjoy the opportunity to worship in Christ Church Cathedral.

After class, students may stroll through Christ Church meadow, punt along the River Isis, or fall asleep under the “Jabberwocky” tree. Christ Church is the setting for portions of Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited, Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, and numerous scenes from the Harry Potter movies. We take day trips as a group to Canterbury, London, and Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as 3-day trip excursion to either the Lake District or Edinburgh, Scotland.

Cost: $5,200 program fee plus tuition, fees, and airfare.

Program fee include all housing, all breakfasts, all dinners, admission fees to several attractions, ground transportation, a first-class BritRail pass, UK cell phone, theatre tickets, and insurance. Baylor tuition and fees are not included in the program cost.  Students will need to bring funds for lunches, souvenirs, class materials, and additional spending money. Airfare costs are additional (approximately 1,800) and should be booked with the group through Millennium Tours; please email Laine_Scales@baylor.edu about any exceptions to the booking arrangements.

Enrollment: The program will accept 20-24 students total. Applications are made through BearsAbroad. Decisions are made on a rolling basis until the program is full. We anticipate full enrollment by December 31, 2016.  Students will register for courses in the order in which they make their program fee deposit of $800 (non-refundable).  Therefore, the first students to deposit will get their first choice of classes.
